Tech Tuesday: Huddly L1 Conferencing Camera

Welcome back to Tech Tuesday! Huddly has been creating compact, easy to use conferencing cameras for years, and we’ve installed their products, like the Huddly IQ camera, in small and medium sized meeting rooms across Canada. Today, we’re looking at something for the big rooms: an extremely small and extremely mighty conferencing camera for larger spaces—the new Huddly L1, courtesy of our friends at Data Visual

 Minimalist Design

The first thing to note about the L1 is the physical design. Made of a matte black aluminum body, the L1 feels like it can withstand nearly any accidental impact that could take place in a boardroom (although we certainly don’t recommend beating it up). Along with the included wall and shelf mount, Huddly added a standard camera tripod mount for increased mounting flexibility.

Minimal Distractions

Unlike standard PTZ conferencing cameras, the L1 has no moving parts. Instead, it uses a 6K image sensor combined with Huddly’s AI framing technology, Genius Framing. The use of software-based framing has 2 main advantages: there is no camera movement to distract participants in the meeting space, and the lack of moving parts means that less can go wrong. You don’t have to worry about your video conferencing system no longer working because of a motor failure or the camera’s zoom malfunctions. Huddly’s AI system also optimizes image brightness and contrast, ensuring great picture clarity even in poor lighting conditions.

Flexible Installation

Huddly’s sleek, minimal design philosophy has also been applied to the connectivity of the camera. The L1 is connected to the internet and powered by a single RJ45 Ethernet connector. This allows for flexible installation in any space, and nearly any configuration. The L1 can be mounted above or below a display, directly on a wall, on a tripod, or on top of a table or other flat surface.

Advanced Analytics

Because the L1 uses digital zoom, it can also keep track of how many people are in the room, and how often the room is in use. This is all reported with Huddly’s InSights Analytics API, allowing IT departments to easily integrate the room analytics with other reporting software and dashboards.

The Best is Yet to Come

While the L1 is one of the best cameras in its class, Huddly is committed to improving the user experience through continuous updates, like their integration of Insight Analytics with Crestron and Zoom analytics dashboards. These improvements can be applied without any disruption to the conferencing system the camera is used in.

With its excellent build quality, advanced AI capabilities and easy installation and management, the Huddly L1 is a perfect addition to the modern boardroom.
