Project Highlight: Royal Glenora Club
Located in the heart of Edmonton’s River Valley, the Royal Glenora Club is a premiere fitness, wellness, and social facility. With the entire facility undergoing renovations in 2020, the Royal Glenora Club worked with Evolution AV to modernize their AV systems throughout the gym and recreation spaces, restaurant and café, and banquet halls. Specifically, we designed an AV solution that was simple to use, easily scalable, and provided members and guests with a top-of-the-line experience.
One of the main focal points of the renovation was 61—the Royal Glenora Club’s restaurant and lounge. Throughout the lounge, we installed JBL pendant speakers for excellent audio quality and coverage. These are powered by Bose Powershare amplifiers, which are able to take signal from their internal network and output it to any of the individual outputs on the amp. This makes it simple to change volumes in different areas of the restaurant and lounge, or even different music: for instance, msuci could be routed to the dining room while audio from one of the TV feeds could be routed to the lounge, all from the Crestron touch panel behind the bar.
The displays around the facility have also gotten a similar upgrade. Every display in the facility has been integrated into an AV over IP network using ZeeVee encoders and decoders. This allows the Royal Glenora to route different channels to different TVs in the lounge, lobby, pool and patio areas without needing to individually change channels on cable boxes. All of the cable boxes are instead centrally located in the equipment rack.
In the fitness studios, an audio solution with more impact was required. To give aerobics classes a bit more “oomph,” we installed a subwoofer bank, mounted into the ceiling to maximize the amount of space available for classes. These studios also feature color-changing LED fixtures, which allow instructors to set the mood for any activity, as well as Bluetooth wall plates for connecting phones to the audio system.
Throughout the banquet spaces, we installed several AV components to allow maximum flexibility for events. The spaces have been outfitted with the same JBL pendant speakers used in the restaurant and lounge; however, here they have been integrated with wall-mounted input plates for external audio sources. This allows Royal Glenora maximum flexibility in their audio setup, whether they need a podium, wireless microphones, or background music. Some of these rooms have been set up as divisible conference spaces—and can be controlled seperately through the wall-mounted touch panel.
