Tech Tuesday - HX7 Variable Dispersion Loudspeaker by TOA Corporation

This is by far the largest product we have had on Tech Tuesday—so large in fact, that we had to head to our warehouse in Calgary, Alberta to film it!

TOA’s HX7 is a 2-way compound loudspeaker system and the successor to TOA’s popular HX5 series. It is comprised of 4 speaker cells, each containing two 5.5” speakers and a 1-inch compression driver inside. Basically, TOA created a miniature line array!

 How it Works

Dispersion angle is an important factor with loudspeakers. Depending on the size and type of venue, it is important to have the speakers angled properly to get the appropriate amount of sound distribution throughout the room. The HX7 is able to bend in order to change the dispersion angle.

For example, you can have the speakers sit flat on top of each other for smaller rooms, or you can choose to angle the speakers dramatically if you have installed them up high in a large venue.

There is also an available weatherproof model perfect for outdoor venues and pop-up events/concerts.

Check out TOA’s animated video below featuring the HX7 and explaining some of its properties!

Ideal Use Case

The beauty of the HX7 is that it has such a variety of perfect use cases. This system can be used in smaller to medium-sized venues (bars, speaking rooms, churches, etc.) to large venues such as auditoriums, arenas and even stadiums. No matter the venue size, the HX7 can be stacked, bent and configured to suit the needs of any venue perfectly.

A special thank you goes out to TOA for their participation in this week’s Tech Tuesday. For more information on the HX7 and more amazing TOA products, visit HERE.
