Project Highlight: Oak Hammock Marsh
Located just outside of Manitoba, Oak Hammock Marsh is a birding hotspot featuring 36 square kilometers of restored prairie marsh and tall grass prairie. A joint project between Ducks Unlimited and the Province of Manitoba, Oak Hammock Marsh’s mission is to “Connect People with Wetlands.” Part of this is the Wetlands Discovery Center, which features a 118-seat theatre that hosts events, lectures, and school groups to teach them about the wetlands and the biodiversity within them. To assist with this goal, Ducks Unlimited enlisted the help of Evolution AV to design and install an engaging presentation system for the multimedia theatre.
With the space being used for so many different things—school groups, corporate events, and their regular educational programming. We’ve outfitted this theater with a full video conferencing system that’s great for hybrid events and Oak Hammock Marsh’s classroom outreach program.
For audio, we’ve integrated two wireless handheld microphones as well as a ceiling-mounted microphone array. The handheld microphones provide high quality audio for individual presenters, while the mic array can pick up comments and questions from the audience. This allows the theatre to provide high quality audio for lectures, while also providing good audio for corporate uses.
We have also installed two motorized PTZ cameras. These can have the framing set manually, or using the microphone array, can track speakers around the room. This makes it easy for presenters to focus on their presentation content without needing to worry about the AV, and still come away with a professional-grade video presentation.
